We didn't have time to listen to the entire concluding video last night. There was one important point that I think is worth emphasizing for those of you who are new and reiterating for those of you who are old. It's called "The Good Neighbor Policy."
The concept is this: You should always talk to your children the way that you would talk to a good neighbor. Be respectful, just like you would be with a good neighbor. Speak kindly, just like you would with a good neighbor. Bring up problems if you need to, but do it appropriately, just like you would with a good neighbor.
Sometimes we save our most rude, most snappy selves for those that live within the walls of our own home. It really should be just the opposite. We should be the most kind, the most respectful, the most considerate of our family members.
Next time you talk to your kids, think of them as a good neighbor!
